Iceland Explorer was born from a simple idea: Iceland deserves a travel companion that does more than just show dots on a map.

The Story

Iceland is a place that stays with you. The endless lava fields, glaciers reaching down to the sea, geysers shooting into the sky, and waterfalls that take your breath away. Once you've been there, you want to go back – and if you haven't been yet, you absolutely should.

While planning my own trip to Iceland, I realized: there are countless travel blogs and books, but no truly good digital companion that helps you along the way. One that doesn't just tell you where something is, but actually guides you there – with live navigation, automatic arrival detection, and hidden gems along the road.

That's how Iceland Explorer was born: A digital travel guide that feels like a local friend in the passenger seat.

Who's Behind It

Iceland Explorer is developed by me, Markus Leiter, as a sole entrepreneur from Switzerland. What started as a personal project has grown into an app that I'd love to share with all Iceland enthusiasts.
